CEBUANO ruled the 6th SM Bowling Cup Tournament

SM BOWLING CENTER awarded a brand new ISUZU Crosswind XUVi A/T to the 6th SM Bowling Cup National Champion John Gasataya, 16 years old from Cebu. The National Finals was held at SM Megamall Bowling Center last May 27, 2007.

The national finalists faced a tough game series from the top 24 trimmed down to top 8, down to top 4 and lastly top 2.  Kap Aguila of SM  Bowling Center Megamall was the consistent top placer but landed only at third place in the top 4 game series, he went home with a trophy and P25,000 cash prize.  At 12 years old, Christelle Peig  of SM Bowling Center Fairview ranked second runner up and received P40,000 cash and a trophy.

Gervic John Gasataya took the lead in the final best 2 games of 3 series against Roger Balanay of SM Megamall in the Top 2 championship round.  Gasataya won with the score of 505 pins with 23 handicap over Balanay’s 440 with 31 handicap. Roger Balanay at 1st runner-up received P70,000 cash and a trophy. John who was the second runner-up of the 6th SM Bowling Cup National Semi-finals last December said he was challenged to show more in the National Finals.  Daily practice and routine physical training combined with his mental skills made him bag the title and bring home to Cebu a brand new Isuzu Crosswind.

Considered the biggest bowling tournament in the country today, SM has given out over P5 million prizes for the 6th SM Bowling Cup including the two Isuzu Crosswinds, one to the 14 year-old Louie Chuaquico in the National Semi-finals  last December and the other one recently to John Gasataya.  Pitted against over 200 participants nationwide, young bowlers dominated this year’s tournament.

Not only this, SM Bowling Center also gave away P100, 000 for every perfect game rolled in the 6th SM Bowling Cup Tournament. The tournament ended with a total of 1.3 million pesos CASH prizes for the perfect game winners alone.  The biggest share went to Sammy Say Sy with 4 perfect games and Benshir Layoso with 3.  Aldwin Ku, Vener Reasonda, Jong Enriquez, Danny Tuazon, Robert Tan and George Ongkeko received P100,000 each for their 1 perfect game.

Raffle prizes were also given away like; 3 Asian Luxury Cruise for two; 2 Family trips to Boracay; 4 Motorbikes; plus other exciting prizes.

As promised by SM Leisure Center’s Vice-President Engr. Ric Camaligan, SM Bowling Center will continue to support and promote the sport of bowling in the country. One way of which is the opening of the new branch at SM Mall of Asia which is the best  bowling center in the country to date.  The SM Bowling Center Mall of Asia will open on June 8 for operations and on June 16 for the public.

Engr. Ric Camaligan also added that the SM Bowling Center will hold a bigger and better 7th SM Bowling Cup with not only 2 cars at stake but this time 3 cars.  Together with SM Bowling Center’s Division Head Jose Sidric Panganiban they unveiled the 7th SM Bowling Cup Champions’ prizes; 2 Nissan Sentra Sedans for the Gatorade National Champion and Lipton National Champion respectively and a Nissan X-trail for the PEPSI Grand National Champion. This is only proves that the SM Bowling Cup continues to grow.
