SM Cup champion brings home an SUV
 
Roger Balanay of Muntinlupa City brought home a brand new Nissan X-trail after winning the Pepsi Grand National Championship of the 7th SM Bowling Cup Tournament, held at SM Bowling Center Megamall recently.

Roger and wife Josephine have actually landed first place in the 1st and 2nd leg, respectively in the 6th SM Bowling Cup. Both have been loyal bowlers of the SM Cup since 2002. “It is very rewarding to become the champion in this prestigious event. There’s no other tournament that gives away such big prizes! My wife and kids are very happy with our new Nissan X-trail.” Balanay said in his interview.

Nelia Santos pocketed P100,000 who landed in 1st place, Roberto Plucena in 2nd Place with P50, 000. Runners up were Galahad Bravo who came in fourth with P25,000, Kim Ian Chi landed fifth with P15,000. The 6th to 24th finishers also earned substantial prizes at stake. Rounding out the top 24 were Leticia Pineda (6th), Ceferino Pineda (7th), John Cedric Gasataya (8th), Richard Kevin Coronacion (9th), Mariano Cerac (10th), Loreto Candaroma (11th), Rolando Tan Jr. (12th), Benson Co (13th), Evelyn Cruz (14th), Stanley Cris Larano (15th), Edgar Alqueza (16th), Efren Moreno (17th), Jake Yap (18th), Bienvenido Lozada (19th), Kurt Mendoza (20th), Nilo Penado (21st), Jeffrey Carabeo (22nd), Benjamin Jarantilla (23rd), and Dyan Arcel Cornacion (24th).

Now on it’s 7th year, the SM Bowling Cup Tournament is the biggest and most prestigious bowling tournament in the country. In the recently concluded 7th edition, three (3) cars were given away. A Nissan Sentra each for the Gatorade and Lipton National Finals and a Nissan X-trail for the Grand Pepsi National Champion.

A pot money of P 500, 000 was also put at stake for anyone who rolls a Perfect Game. A perfect game is a perfect score of 300 where a bowler throws 12 strikes in a row. There were three perfect game winners for this year’s tournament, Danny Tuazon of SM Bowling Center Megamall, Jeffrey Carabeo and Edgar Barroga both from SM Bowling Center Mall of Asia.

Fabulous raffle prizes were also given away to participants, such as Suzuki Motorbikes, La Carmela de Boracay Gift Certificates and Black & Decker power tools, so those who did not make it to the top finalist still had something to look forward to.

The 8th edition of the SM Cup tournament was also launched together with the culmination of the 7th SM Bowling Cup Tournament. The 8th SM Bowling Cup Tournament promises to be bigger  and more exciting this year, with four (4) car prizes to be given away,  P 500, 000 Pot Money for the Perfect Game, plus more exciting prizes in the raffle.

To allow even more bowlers to be part of the 8th SM Bowling Cup, three (3) new divisions will be opened this year: the Bantam Division (12 years old & below), the Senior Division (60 years & below) and the Elite Division (Philippine Team Members & International Bowlers).

The 8th SM Bowling Cup tournament will run until May 2009. Qualifying period begins in June 2008 in all SM Bowling Centers nationwide. SM Bowling Center presently has four (4) branches. CEBUANO ruled the 6th SM Bowling Cup Tournament

SM BOWLING CENTER awarded a brand new ISUZU Crosswind XUVi A/T to the 6th SM Bowling Cup National Champion John Gasataya, 16 years old from Cebu.  The national finals was held at SM Megamall Bowling Center last May 27, 2007 and was graced by no other than the world's best and hall of famer Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno.

The national finalists faced a tough game series from the top 24 trimmed down to top 8, down to top 4 and lastly top 2. Kap Aguila of SM Bowling Center Megamall was the consistent top placer but landed only at third place in the top 4 game series, he went home with a trophy and P25,000 cash prize. At 12 years old, Christelle Peig of SM Bowling Center Fairview ranked second runner up and received P40,000 cash and a trophy.

Gervic John Gasataya took the lead in the final best 2 games of 3 series against Roger Balanay of SM Megamall in the Top 2 championship round. Gasataya won with the score of 505 pins with 23 handicap over Balanay’s 440 with 31 handicap. Roger Balanay at 1st runner-up received P70,000 cash and a trophy. John who was the second runner-up of the 6th SM Bowling Cup National Semi-finals last December said he was challenged to show more in the National Finals. Daily practice and routine physical training combined with his mental skills made him bag the title and bring home to Cebu a brand new Isuzu Crosswind.

Bowlers of the 6th SM Cup has totalled P 1,300,000.00 in Perfect Game award. The latest perfect gamer is Sammy Say Sy. Sammy rolled his 4th perfect game at SM North EDSA in the 7th game of 6th Center Finals. This is Sammy's 4th Perfect Game in the 6th SM Bowling Cup. Sammy has surpassed Benshir Layoso's feat of 3 perfect games in the tournament. George Ongkeko, the 10th perfect game winnerrolled his perfect game during the 2nd day of the National Semi-finals at SM Bowling North EDSA. Other winners are Aldwin Ku, Vener Reasonda, Benshir Layoso (3x), Danny Tuazon and Robert Tan.

AMKOR TECHNOLOGY wins the
1ST SM COMPANY BOWLING TOURNAMENT
April 3, 2007

SM Bowling Centers launched the 1st SM Company Bowling Tournament last January 25, 2007. The tournament invited several companies and commercial establishments in Metro Manila. Each team was composed of 4 bowlers whose total entering average is not higher than 750. The tournament ran for 8 weeks. Along with the champion's trophy, the top cash prize of P100,000.00 were delivered to AMKOR TECHNOLOGY.

Adstyle Signages, Henrich Bowling Team, Timber Protection and Western Guaranty Corp finished the tournament at 2nd to 5th place positions with P50,000, P40,000, P30,000 and P20,000 cash prizes respectively.

SAMMY SAY SY ROLLS 300 GAME FOR THE 4th TIME
January 08, 2007

Mr. Sammy Say Sy of U&I and Vikings Bowling Club rolled his first Perfect "300" game on Novermber 8, 2006 at SM Bowling North EDSA during his qualifying game for the 6th Bowling Cup. His second was on December 20 and striking it again for the third time 2 days later, December 22.  Sammy rolled, yet, another 300 game during the 6th Center Finals at SM Bowling North EDSA yesterday, January 7, 2007.  Mr. Sy's perfect game thus became the 13th P100,000.00 prize winner of this tournament.  Sammy Sy thus bested Mr. Benshir Layoso 3 perfect games, and now holds the record of having the most number of perfect games. Mr. Sy winnings in the 6th SM Bowling Cup now totals at least P400,000 cash. To date a total of P1,300,000.00 had been won in the country's most lucrative bowling tournament.

Prizes of more than 5 million pesos are up for grabs in the 6th SM Bowling Cup, including 2 units of Isuzu Crosswind A/T in the Semifinal this December and the National Finals on May 2007.

This is also his 2nd since he participated in the SM Bowling Cup tournament, now on its 6th year.

Aldwin Ku of U&I Bowling Club rolled a perfect game in the 4th game of his qualifying set for the SM Cup. Mr. Ku, thus, wins for himself a whooping Php 100,000.00 for this feat. He is the first perfect gamer for this season of SM Bowling Cup where more than 5 Million Pesos worth of prizes are up for grabs, including 2 units of Isuzu Crosswind XUVi A/T.

Aside from the cash reward, Mr. Ku is entitled to 300 free games at SM Bowling North EDSA.
