SM Bowling Center is a division of Leisure Center, Inc. The first branch, SM Bowling North EDSA started operations on December 15, 1989. SM Bowling North EDSA featured the country's first and only Fully Computerized and Automatic Scoring. The introduction of computerized scoring by SM revolutionized the tenpin bowling in the country. Manual scoring became a fad of the old. Amateur and Fun Bowlers started to flock to SM Bowling North EDSA. Hundreds waited each day to be able to try and enjoy the state of the art facilities available only at SM Bowling Center.
With the tremendous customer response and succes of SM Bowling NorthEDSA, SM Megamall opened its doors to the public on December 1993 with 46 Fully Automated and Computerized Lanes featuring the first generation of AMF 82-90 pinspotters and Accuscore Plus Scoring with AMF Advantage Bowling Operations Control System. SM Megamall Bowling is the home of the Asian Development Bank Bowling Club, playing every Friday all year-round.
SM Bowling Cebu followed suit two years after, staring operations on September 1995 with 28 Lanes of AMF 82-90XL Pinspotters and Accuscore Plus Scoring with AMF Advantage Lite Control System. SM Bowling Center Cebu was the first and only fully automated Tenpin Bowling in the Queen City of the South. Bowlers jam packed the bowling center that Management decided to expand the 28 lanes to 48 lanes in 1997. Adding 20 Lanes of 82-90XL Pinspotters and Accuscore XL Scoring to the existing 28 lanes, making it the biggest among the four centers.
With a change in business strategy, the 20 lanes expansion was transfered to its new home at SM City-Fairview. SM Bowling Fairview started operations on November 2001 with the popular band Rivermaya gracing the opening rites of the center. Xtreme Bowling Club made it is home center and plays every Saturday evening.
SM Bowling Center is now the home of THE SM BOWLING CUP, a bowling tournament for all amateur bowlers. It is the richest bowling tournament in the country and is going bigger and bigger each year. Millions of pesos had been awarded to the perfect gamers of this tournament, giving P100,000.00 for each, take note 'each', perfect "300" game rolled.
